that birth has a long lasting impact, both physically and mentally
that women need consistent, continuous reassurance, comfort, encouragement and
       respect
that having a doula can help you achieve the birth you want
that breastfeeding, especially the first few days, is the optimal way to feed your baby
that I am there in addition to, not instead of, the mother's partner
that a woman should be able to give birth where she is most comfortable, at home
       or in the hospital
